Citizen Contacts

Program Purpose

The department realizes that the citizens of Willis have very little time to attend neighborhood meetings after they have worked all day, taken the kids to various events, helped with homework, and taken care of daily household activities. Therefore, the citizen contact program was initiated for officers to go to the citizens individually to inquire about issues of concern to residents and business owners.

The officers can then offer information to help reduce or eliminate those issues, or make referrals themselves to the proper agencies or departments who can assist the citizen with the issue or problem. Many of the issues are not related to major crimes. Instead, they are quality of life issues such as:

  • Loud music
  • Barking dogs
  • Dogs at large
  • Potholes
  • Street lights out
  • Traffic issues
