1. Which version of the building codes does the City of Willis have adopted?

2. I plan on doing some construction or remodeling inside the city limits. At what point do I need a permit?

In general, a permit is required for most all construction and remodeling and should be obtained prior to commencing the work. For detailed information reference our Building Permit Information form.

3. How much does a permit cost?

Our building permit fees are based on the valuation of the proposed work. Trade permits such as electrical, mechanical, and plumbing are based on the required number of inspections plus a base fee. For details reference our Permit Fee Schedule

4. What documents need to be submitted to obtain a permit?

Submittal requirements differ depending on the type of permit requested. Building and development permits require two complete hard copy sets of plans and one digital PDF set for archive purposes.

5. What is the turnaround time for processing a permit?

Once a complete application is submitted, building and development permit plan reviews are generally conducted within 10 working days. Trade permits are usually processed within a day or two and sometime on the same day depending on personnel availability.
